Property Information

All persons who are held for any length of time at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center will have their personal property removed when entering the facility. All property that is removed from an individual is immediately inventoried. After the property is inventoried, it is then moved to the facility property room, where it is again inventoried. While conducting the second inventory, the Property Officer and/or Property Clerk determine if the property falls within the allowable amount or if excess is found (Please review the excess property section below for more information). All allowable property is held until the release or transfer of the incarcerate at which point the property is returned to the inmate or transferring agent for return to the inmate. Please note that if it is found that an inmate is to be released within 24 hours of being brought into the facility, the property is likely to be inventoried only once due to the short duration of incarceration.

Property Pick-Up

For property to be released to anyone other than the inmate, a property release form must be completed and submitted to Property Staff. When picking up property a valid photo identification is required. Property pick-up and drop-off is only available during the set property hours.

Accepted Items

The facility does not accept any personal property other than one set of court clothing. Court clothing is only approved for Circuit Court and Juvenile & Domestic Relations Courts. Out of jurisdiction must be authorized by the judge only. Belts and ties are not accepted. A suit with a sport coat or blazer, khaki or dress slacks with a button/collared shirt and conservative dress/skirt are the only items accepted. Shoes must be a dress type shoe; females are permitted to have flat type shoes (no heels, sandals, boots, or open-toed shoes). All other clothing in an inmate’s property must be released prior to having court attire dropped off due to limited space.

Excess Property

Upon initial incarceration, all personal property for a new incarcerate is collected and inventoried by Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center (NRADC) staff. After being inventoried an inmate will be notified of excess property that may be present. This property would need to be picked up or mailed out (at the inmate’s expense) within the time provided on the property form. If the excess property is not picked up or mailed out within the time frame provided, then it is disposed of appropriately.

Issued Clothing

Upon initial incarceration, an inmate is issued the following:

  • 2 Jumpsuits
  • 2 Pair of Underwear
  • 2 Pair of Socks
  • 1 Pair of Jail/Shower Shoes
  • 2 T-Shirts
  • 2 Bras (Females/Transgender)

Additional clothing may be purchased though inmate canteen or if an inmate is determined to be indigent and continues to remain indigent for thirty (30) days additional clothing can be provided through request.
