How long will I be under ASAP supervision?

You will remain under ASAP supervision for the period ordered by the court. The length of supervision varies by case and may range from six months to three years, depending on the court order and your compliance with program requirements.

Is ASAP just a class?

No. While education classes may be one requirement, ASAP is a court-ordered supervision program. Depending on your case, requirements may include supervised probation, education classes (4-week or 5-week), ignition interlock monitoring, substance use treatment (if required), random alcohol and/or drug screening, community service (when ordered), and any other special conditions imposed by the court. Your Case Manager will review your specific requirements during your intake appointment.

How much does ASAP cost?

The standard ASAP enrollment fee is $400. Additional fees may apply for services such as drug and alcohol screenings, case reviews, ignition interlock monitoring, missed appointments, class rescheduling, or other court-ordered services.

Can I transfer to another ASAP?

Yes. If you live or work in another Virginia jurisdiction, or move out of the area, you may be eligible to transfer your case. Please contact your Case Manager to discuss the transfer process.

Can I bring family or friends with me to class?

No. Only registered clients may attend education classes unless prior approval has been granted by the Program Director.

What happens if I miss an ASAP class?

Attendance is required. Absences are only approved in emergency situations and must be documented. Depending on the circumstances, you may be required to restart the class and pay any applicable fees.

Can I drive to a gas station or grocery store?

Your driving privileges are determined by your court order and Virginia law. Please review your DC-261 for your approved driving restrictions. If you have questions about where you are permitted to drive, contact your attorney or the court.

Does ASAP choose my ignition interlock provider?

No. You are responsible for selecting an ignition interlock provider from the Virginia DMV's approved vendor list.

Can I drive before my ignition interlock is installed?

No. If your restricted license requires ignition interlock, it must be installed before you operate a vehicle.

Who notifies DMV when I complete ASAP?

Once all court-ordered ASAP requirements have been successfully completed, ASAP electronically reports your completion to DMV. Completion cannot be entered more than 30 days before your restricted license expires.

Do my ASAP fees have to be paid before I can have my license fully restored?

Yes. All ASAP fees must be paid in full before your case can be successfully completed. DMV will not restore your driving privileges until ASAP has reported your completion.

How can I make a payment?

Old Dominion ASAP accepts money orders, credit cards, and debit cards. A convenience fee applies to credit and debit card payments. Money orders may be mailed to:

How do I enroll in ASAP?

You must enroll within 15 days of your conviction or referral unless otherwise directed by the court.

When can I have my ignition interlock removed?

Removal eligibility is determined by your court order and Virginia law. A final calibration/download completed on or after your eligibility date must be reviewed and approved before removal authorization can be issued. Contact your Case Manager before scheduling removal.

My ignition interlock has been installed. Can I drive?

If you have a valid restricted license and have met all court and DMV requirements, you may operate your vehicle within the restrictions of your license. If you have questions regarding your driving privileges, please contact DMV.

What documents do I need to obtain my restricted license?

If you are eligible to apply for a restricted license, you will typically need the following documents (issued within the previous 10 days):

• Driving Record

• Letter of Compliance from ASAP
